MOvement
We are all beings of movement and relationships, yet we spend very little time, if any at all, exploring our relationship to the ways we move. Most of our movement is goal oriented, and we only refine our movements when we want better results in specific activities or skill based systems. Much of our daily life is spent moving around unawares to how our bodies move through the world. For many of us, we end up slouching, with migraines, with stiffness, or soreness, with repetitive motion injuries, or any other plethora of discomforts in our bodies.
This work is a study of the mind/body connection and interactions we all have. When we begin to explore these relationships and how they affect each other, we find much of our discomfort and movements become revisable, and changeable. Whether you are experiencing pain and challenges in your body, or you’re an athlete looking to enhance your skills this work is well suited to anyone who looks to move more gracefully in life.
What can you expect in this work? This work engages with and helps our nervous systems learn, change, and refine through movement and awareness. Bringing your awareness into small and gentle movements of the body begins to reshape the way you move, and gives your nervous system options to explore. This can create space between us and our physical sense of ourselves. We will no longer be identified with our pain, or discomforts, we can begin to get curious about ourselves, and this is where learning begins. Its through this process we being to shift, change, update, and expand our physical abilities.
When I work with my clients, in private or in a group setting, my aim is to help educate them about their own movements. By bringing awareness to a person about how they move, and what is possible in their own body; it opens up opportunities for their nervous system to learn new and more effective ways to move in life. This can help relieve the body of pain, create more comfort and flexibility, expand range of motion, and even become more limber and mobile.
Group Classes
Weekly classes are offered online and sometimes in person. These classes are based in the work of Moshe Feldenkrais, as taught by Mia Segal and MBS Academy. Classes focus on guided movements and breath work as a way to explore ourselves, and create lasting change in our bodies and minds. When we focus our awareness on how we move, we begin to find new ways to move with more ease and comfort that can ripple into our whole life.
Private Sessions
Private sessions are a great way to get a personal and customized experience of this work. They can be online, in person with hands on or off. They incorporate all the movements of a group class, but can be customized to the individual’s needs and desires.
Hands on will allow you to relax completely and let me guide your body and awareness to a more integrated state of being. It can be a chance to discover more about your body than you may have been aware of before. Through this method, your system will being to choose a more comfortable space to be. It will help to release tension and holding patterns that can become parasitic to the body. It can bring about more calm state of mind, and restore a sense of centeredness in the body.
Guided movements are a great follow up after a hands on lesson. These movement lessons are tailored specifically to you and your needs.
